Geologist Forewarns Of Imminent Powerful Earthquake In Turkey.
The Earth’s crust is on the brink of rupture, warns Prof. Arkan. His alert underscores a heightened risk of a major earthquake in the upcoming months, emphasizing the need for precautionary measures.
Renowned Turkish geophysicist Prof. Ogun Ahmet Arkan has issued a warning about an imminent threat of a powerful earthquake in the region. While he cannot pinpoint the exact location, he suggests a likelihood of it occurring in Turkey’s Anatolia region by spring. The increasing tension in this area poses a risk of Earth’s crust rupture, as reported by “Al-Arabiya.”
Prof. Arkan stresses that this earthquake might occur without warning, despite the absence of prior strong seismic activities in the region. He urges Turkish authorities to take proactive measures to mitigate potential damage.
Alert: Earthquake to Hit Again Prior to Spring!
In a Haber Global TV interview, he remarked, “It’s my belief that we might experience an earthquake before spring, yet the precise location remains uncertain. Regrettably, indications point to an increasing likelihood, especially in Anatolia.”
The Earth’s crust in this vulnerable region measures approximately 43 km in thickness. Currently, the upper crust is holding up against rupture. Nonetheless, if the pressure escalates to a critical point, there is an expectation of a seismic event with a magnitude of approximately 7 on the Richter scale.
It’s important to highlight that a catastrophic earthquake hit southern Turkey in February of the previous year, resulting in the tragic loss of over 50,000 lives. This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the potential repercussions and underscores the necessity for preemptive measures to minimize the impact of future seismic events.
